It’s so helpful to loads of ladies I’m sure.🌺 Back when I was younger woman didn’t dare mention the word period someone I knew would say…”I’ve got the decorators in.” It’s so much better now thanks again dear Lydia. x

Hi Lydia. I love the idea of the flower beds in the corners of the patio but the one that seems to be in the middle behind the sofa, everytime I see it I feel like someone will fall into it if they are not looking. I agree with you with how the table is now. It flows nicely going towards the stairs.

I'd put the table back the way you had it before - it creates a beautiful frame to your kitchen garden with your tablescapes, and allows you to have more room from the steps when people are sat around it!
Also I think you'd simply get used to walking around because you just love the beautiful way 😍

Love the garden progress update! I’d wait until the flower beds are in before deciding on the best direction for the table and chairs. I’m torn too! The current position looks lovely when you walk up the stairs and is more practical, but the other direction matches the benches and would look appealing from the garden…!

Lydia- long time watcher here. Look up PMDD- Pre-menstrual Dysphoric Disorder. It's a condition where you experience little to no mental health at any time of the month, but in the week to week and a half leading up to your period your mood switches, you can experience extreme irritability, depression, anxiety, self-conscious, and this often comes with lots of unpleasant physical affects too- swollen boobs, extreme period pain, back pain, headaches, hot flushes, sweats etc. I'm a Dietitian that often works with clients who experience this, and I experience it myself so I've done a lot of research into helping support women with this issue- through diet modification, supplementation etc. Hope I could help lead you to something helpful! :)

@@lydiamillen there is an app called Balance which was created by Dr Louise Newson. In it there is the ability to track your symptoms and menstrual cycle. It is extremely useful for peri menopause but also for premenstrual symptoms too. There is evidence that women who experienced really bad premenstrual symptoms have a lot worse premenopausal symptoms. The more you are in tune now the better prepared you’ll be. You are just very susceptible to the fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone. I sympathise with you🤗

Table definitely in the orientation it is in now. Otherwise, you probably won't use the new steps as much. Also, once you get the patio corner quadrant beds planted, it will make that part of the patio feel even more cohesive and balanced, and not bother you as much! You could also consider which view you would rather the majority of your guests have when they are sitting! Right now the view is of the kitchen garden, turned the other way, people have more view of the lawn side.

Put the table in the direction you prefer but shift the location towards the right so you can easily walk around the left head of the table to use the stairs. To visually balance this I would put 2-3 foot high evergreen shrubs in the planters on either side of the doors you don't use a lot.

When positioning a table I like to take into consideration the profile each chairs position would offer our guests. If kept the way you have it, three chairs/guests would be looking at your house brick exterior. If you had two guests chances are you would sit opposite them so again two guests facing the house. However you have beautiful garden outlooks on either side of your patio so I think I would turn it the other way to give as many people the best view possible.

Move it down a bit further though towards the lawn side of the garden and it won't block the steps and won't need to walk around it maybe?

I'm a women's wellness and hormone health coach. I help women to discover the rhythm of their own cycle, fix imbalances that lead to problems like bloating, fatigue, raging PMS, irregular or painful cycles, fertility and so much more. Glimpsing your app there Lydia, I'd encourage you to have a full thyroid panel blood test done as your body temp is a little low. Most NHS GP's won't do a full panel thyroid test so some crucial markers are missed that indicate the health of the thyroid; and the thyroid is a key component of the entire menstrual cycle as its part of a wider hormone feedback loop. Also.....It's true women can't show up to workout's the same every week, but when period symptoms are so bad you can't exercise, that's not normal and means that things like nutrition, deficiencies, sleep etc all need to be looked at, as well as exploring different movement options for each of the 4 phases of the cycle. Wonderful to see you taking an interest in this as knowing your cycle as a women is an actual superpower!

I hear that, we need more women in this field of work showing up especially now. I am a trainee Menstrual Cycle Coach and I think it’s soo important for us to learn about ourselves holistically not just for our periods sake so Lydia, love love love you’re getting into learning more about your entire cycle ❤❤

I wish DR’s would understand thyroid problems! Also doing a Full thyroid panel would have pick up my thyroid antibodies sooner than they did! I had thyroid symptoms for about 2 years before DR’s took it seriously though I was symptomatic and had a family history of thyroid disease! Me and my mum had started having thyroid problems very young 16/17 (me) and 19/20 ish (Mum) both were treated like we were being ridiculous! My mum had to wait 20 years before she was treated which isn’t the most maddening thing! She was told to her face that she was “being difficult etc”.

I like where the table is right now! But! The more you fill out the patio area - like with pots and foliage and decor, it’ll feel snug and perfectly right!

I’d have the same thoughts about the table. Round table instead? You would still have to walk around it but perhaps more balanced as it’s circular? Or would that be too big?

Lydia, I’ve had pmt or pmdd as it’s sometimes know, since my early twenties, knowing when it’s coming (usually day 14 for me) is hugely helpful, I’ve got the pleasure of Perimeopause now, which is equally delightful 😂😂😂😂things that helped me - diet/ exercise/ time alone to recharge x

Wonderful relaxing vlog Lydia. More needs to be done to explain to people how hormonal changes affect women. I started going through the Perimenopause 4 months ago and the impact it has had on my physically, moreso mentally and emotionally is so negative. I have memory loss, have lost my confidence, anxiety, have become less interest in socialising and generally feel blurh. I wonder if Berkely secretly likes his warm Bubble baths and towel cuddles. He may be rolling on purpose, knowing it will be bath time afterwards? xxx

    Dear Lydia,
I know that your intentions are nice and pure but for me, this kind of app has always been problematic. Understanding your body is great but when you start saying "in spite of doing 16k steps today, overall it's not enough" etc, you start getting into a bad place mentally because it feels like your life is run through an algorithm and you have to turn wellness into work. For me, letting go of micro-managing every single aspect of my life comes with less stress and more benefits than knowing exactly what my heart rate and temperature are.

You can try the table the other way and shift it closer to the living room doors. Or put the sofa where the table is and the table where the sofas are.

Hi, Lydia! I also don’t take birth control and used to have pretty bad period pains, but a combo of lots of water, Magnesium Glycinate, Vit D and Vitex (Chaste Tree Berry) along with my normal vitamins have my periods extremely regular and maybe 1-2 hours of dull ache on first day of period and nothing really after. Give these a try if your doc approves!❤

I feel the table looks good as is. Looking out the patio doors it makes more sense and for easy flow to the steps. Also, I noticed your tomatoes are ripe now. I have been waiting forever for mine to change. You just picked them, placed them in a basket on the table and they ripened? How long did it take. I saw the vlog when you put them there but I do not know how much time has passed. Mine are still on the vine on the balcony, but it is getting too cold.
